Both men and women become sexually stimulated through touching, feeling, seeing and fantasizing. Our bodies respond to these “turn ons” with a change in blood pressure and respiration rate and swelling due to increased blood flow and increased tension. The female will produce vaginal lubrication, the vaginal canal distends to accept the penis, the labia swell, the clitoris increases in size and the nipples become erect. The male gets an erection, the head of the penis becomes sensitive and the testes rise higher in the scrotum.

As the body responds physically to stimulation, sexual tensions start to peak. Both men and women have an increase in breathing and heart rate. For females the outer one-third of the vagina swells enough that the vaginal opening also decreases by one-third, the clitoris retracts into the clitoral hood, the vaginal muscles contract and the uterus pulls upward. For males the penis becomes fully erect, the testicles increase in size and there is drops of seminal fluid present.

These are the body’s first responses to sexual stimulation. Every person has these responses with stimuli that has them become aroused.
